The Salad Bowl was founded in July 2003
by a group of Peer Networkers and International students in
the hopes of continuing friendships formed during
Orientation. Many local students formed unique friendships
with individuals from differing countries around the world
during Orientation at UTS and as such were inspired to
create The Salad Bowl to keep the friendships alive and to
continue to make new ties within UTS.
This group recognises the cultural diversity that exists
within UTS and as such would like to reflect on that
diversity. The Salad Bowl aims to bring out the best of
each culture by allowing everyone to experience and
understand the different backgrounds whilst at the same
time helping us to appreciate the similarities.
We have organised a very innovative and exciting social
calendar for 2008. The Salad Bowl members will be able to
enjoy and participate in a variety of events from
adventurous outings to local outings as well as on campus
events. Along the way, The Salad Bowl members will be able
to establish new friendships and meet new and interesting
people from different walks of life. We trust that through
holding a variety of enjoyable events, we will enhance a
mutual understanding of differing cultures and
backgrounds.
(In other words: We're all about having fun, meeting new
people and learning something new)
